This week, on Wednesday 7 December, Starbucks will be offering free Tall beverages to all NHS staff, to say an early festive thank you for the third consecutive year.

Available all day, NHS staff can order any handcrafted Tall beverage of their choice from Starbucks stores across Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) when they show their work identity card in store. Beverages available include festive favourites and espresso-based classics to iced beverages, all made with responsibly sourced, high-quality arabica coffee. With millions of customisation options available in-store, there’s a handcrafted beverage for everyone at Starbucks.

The one day offer is part of an ongoing partnership between Starbucks and NHS Charities Together, which sees each Starbucks store across Great Britain paired with one of over 230 local NHS charities, to help support staff, patients, and communities across the UK. Support provided by NHS Charities Together includes counselling, helplines, and peer-to-peer support for staff, as well as projects that support the long-term recovery of the NHS and reduce health inequalities in local communities.

Ellie Orton OBE, Chief Executive at NHS Charities Together, said:

“As the national charity caring for the NHS, we’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from Starbucks. Their free Tall beverage initiative will be a welcome boost for the workforce this Christmas, and in-store fundraising is helping us provide extra support for staff, volunteers and patients across the UK.

“The NHS can’t face every challenge alone, but working with our partners, supporters and the network of NHS charities we’re helping it to go further, and to improve healthcare for all of us.”

Alex Rayner, General Manager at Starbucks UK, said:

“We hope this small gesture gives all NHS workers the opportunity to take a moment to enjoy this festive period and demonstrates our huge appreciation of the NHS for all that they do, all year round. We are proud of our ongoing partnership with NHS Charities Together and look forward to delivering more work together that ensures we continue to support the local communities we serve.”

Starbucks has a long history of supporting the NHS, with ongoing activity including:

  • Long-term partnership with NHS Charities Together to pair their stores with local NHS charities across the country
  • Staff volunteering activities and donations
  • Blue Light Card offering 10% to NHS staff and other frontline workers since 2018

This Holiday season, Starbucks has launched its largest reusable merchandise collection yet, providing even more options for customers to have their drink served in a reusable and the next time they bring their cup to store they will receive 25p off their beverage. NHS workers are also encouraged to make the change by bringing in their own reusable cup to enjoy their free Tall beverage.
